Born in a small seaside village in Galloway, Scotland I had freedom as a child to roam the beaches and hills surrounding my home. I had, even from a young age, a passion for drawing and painting what I saw around me. Encouraged by teachers at my secondary school in Stranraer I later gained a place at Glasgow School of Art where I studied textile design under the tuition of James Cosgrove. Moving to London after graduation I developed my skills in textile design branching into illustration and then to making and selling my drawings and paintings. At the same time, I married and we had two daughters. I taught art part-time at various London colleges, gaining a teaching qualification along the way.
Over the years working as designer, illustrator, artist and art teacher I have become adept in the use of a wide range of techniques and media.

I moved back to Scotland in 2014 with my husband. We now live in a beautiful place overlooking the Jed valley with our spaniel, regularly visited by our family and friends. I am a full-time artist except when teaching or running workshops.
Returning to rural Scotland after a long absence, my creative arena is the exquisite natural beauty of the Scottish Border’s countryside, where I now live. The changing seasons, the colours of the landscape, natural forms, the light and the mood and memory they evoke provide endless inspiration.
